A friend of Lain, perhaps the
only true one she has. She always seems to be honestly interested in Lain
and her life, and seeks to "bring her out of her shell," as it
were. A very kind and considerate person, who is always with Lain...
...although not
always as a friend. Due to complications with Lain's
true identity and abilities, near the end the close friendship they shared
shatters. However, Lain
still loves Arisu, and so sets into effect a series of events to change the
world and put everything to right. Also - after the fateful battle with
Eiri - it is believed that Arisu was killed, hence the sudden and confused
reaction of Lain towards her dear friend.

Another friend of Lain. A
might on the flaky side. Somewhat carefree and boisterous, and with a dash
of fearfulness. She is the one whom we first see to have received a letter
from Yomodo Chisa.

completes the foursome. She is the tough one, one who has no tolerance for
weakness. Occasionally judgmental of Lain
and her actions, she sometimes appears to tolerate Lain
simply for Arisu's sake.

The girl who commits suicide, and then sends an e-mail to her classmates from
the Beyond. Seems to be one of many who are sacrificing their corporeal
bodies to enter the Wired.
